What can I do for Hair Loss?

Although I recommend the complete Rx For a Healthier Life, I have seen many people stop hair loss by taking Vitalizer and Cinch Shakes (or Energizing Soy Protein) plus extra B-complex if needed. I have been getting this question a lot lately and it just so happens that Dr. Oz answered it today on his show as well. I wonder why so many people are losing their hair? I'm sure stress is part of it. Dr. Oz said to take iron supplements for hair loss. If you take Vitalizer w/Iron, or Vita-lea with Iron, you are covered in the iron department. If you still need extra iron, we offer Iron+C (because iron needs vitamin C to work properly). Shaklee's iron typically does NOT cause constipation like many other iron supplements! I wonder if it's because the others don't have the vitamin C in them....hmmmm??? What do you think?

Liqui-Lea® also contains both Iron and B-complex. Because it is liquid, it goes right to your bloodstream and you can really feel it, too!

Switching to natural hair products, including a nourishing scalp treatment, may also help. I LOVE these hair products!

Can you take Shaklee's fish oil (Omegaguard) if you are pregnant?

I'm not sure what the reason is that women are afraid to take fish oil while pregnant, but I'm guessing it is because of fear of mercury and contaminants, which Shaklee products do not contain.

Ultrapure and Pharmaceutical Grade
OmegaGuard is made with a proprietary, triple molecular distillation process that concentrates the natural beneficial omega-3 fatty acids while removing harmful compounds like mercury and lead that are found in many types of fish.

The first of many questions I will be answering:

"Can my pregnant wife take Fish Oil?"

First, Shaklee's Vitalizer contains Omegaguard, so I will tell you what the box says: "Caution: if pregnant, nursing or taking blood thinning medications consult a physician prior to use. Contains vitamin K." It does NOT say "do not take." You can find the label here.

Next, Shaklee's Omegaguard: I found NO warnings for pregnant women. You can find the label here.

The Best Cleaning Products | Longest Lasting Concentrate |  Real Simple

I have been using Basic H for 30 years! Basic H is celebrating 50 years this year, while Earth Day is celebrating 40 years! Basic H2 (updated and 2X as concentrated as the original) is on page 181 of the May 2010 issue of Real Simple Magazine.

The Best Cleaning Products | Longest Lasting Concentrate | Real Simple

One person can really do a lot to clean up their home and our environment. The number of Basic H2 bottles sold last year contained the same amount of clean as nearly 1.7 million 26-ounce bottles of conventional, ready-to-use window cleaner—that’s enough bottles to wrap around the earth 11.4 times. Through sales of Basic H2, combined with last year’s sales of Get Clean Starter Kits, Shaklee saved 71 million pounds of greenhouse gases and 31 million pounds of packaging waste!

Imagine if you changed brands and then told 10 other people about this? Together, we really can do something significant and important for our homes and our world! Thank you!

Why soak almonds and walnuts?

Since losing my weight 3 years ago, I have been eating roasted almonds every day. Recently I keep hearing Dr. Oz talk about eating walnuts, and soaking them, but he never says why or for how long, so I started to search around to find out whether I should be soaking my almonds or not. What I learned was that raw almonds, soaked, will probably be better for me. I choose almonds over walnuts because they have a better balance of protein/carbs/fats that fit with my Shaklee 180 but walnuts are good for getting Omega 3's. I make sure I get those with Vitalizer and OmegaGuard.

Here is some of what I found on veghealthguide.com:

To Soak or Not to Soak...
Although eating nuts and seeds, even when roasted, can be very healthy, it may be beneficial to purchase your nuts and seeds raw and then soak them in clean water for a few hours before eating them. Soaking raw nuts and seeds stimulates the process of germination, which increases the vitamin C, B, and carotenes (pre-vitamin A) content. It may also neutralize phytic acid, a substance present in the bran of all grains and seeds that can inhibit some absorption of calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, and zinc. Raw nuts and seeds also contain enzyme inhibitors that are neutralized by germination.
If you choose to soak your nuts and seeds, please follow these general guidelines:
  1. Getting ready: Use raw, preferably organic, nuts and seeds. Make enough for three days only. Use a glass or stainless steel bowl or jar (plastics may contain toxins). Rinse your nuts or seeds (purified or distilled water is generally preferred).

  2. Soak them: Place your nuts and seeds in in the bowl or jar and then cover it with something breathable, like a towel or pantyhose. Let them soak according to the following schedule (all times approximate).

    • Almonds, germination time 8 – 12 hours at room temperature
    • Cashews, whole, germination time 2 – 2 1/2 hours at room temperature
    • Sesame seeds, germination time 8 hours at room temperature
    • Sunflower seeds, germination time 2 hours at room temperature
    • Walnuts, germination time 4 hours at room temperature
    • All other nuts, germination time 6-24 hours at room temperature
Over the course of the soaking, drain and rinse the nuts or seeds two (2) or three (3). Each time you do this, make sure you rinse them until the water drains clear. This is especially important with nuts and seeds that soak for longer amounts of time.
  3. Afterwards: After you've soaked them, you may want to do a final rinse with grapefruit seed extract or organic apple cider vinegar, as these can will clean them of bacteria without being absorbed. You now have germinated nuts and seeds! You're ready to eat them. You can store the leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three (3) days.
Vegan /
Vegetarian Nuts & SeedsIf the idea of soaking your nuts and seeds seems too time-consuming an endeavor for you, don't worry—many nutrients cannot be heated out of foods, like protein, vitamin E, and fiber, which are found in ample quantities inside nuts and seeds of all kinds, both cooked and uncooked.

Shaklee Get Clean Review

I love Shaklee Get Clean. I have been using these products for 30 years. I raised my kids with them. I am so, so, so grateful that I learned about Shaklee when I was in my mid 20's. I have used the products ever since, for most of my life. I did not expose my children to toxic cleaning chemicals growing up, and for that I am very grateful. 53 years later, this is the kind of fabulous reviews the Shaklee Get Clean products are receiving!

3 Year Anniversary ~ Maintaining My Weight Loss

I was reminded tonight that this month is my anniversary of losing 25# and 27.5" and keeping it off for 3 years! :) Here's my story and how I did it.

IMO, Cinch is NOT a diet. It is a healthy way to lose fat and keep your muscle. You lose your unwanted weight in the process :) Which is what we all want, right? Who wants to be on a diet? No one. Who wants to lose all their fat and inches and look and feel great? Everyone! :)

Babies Recently Treated With Lotion, Shampoo, And Powder More Likely To Have Phthalates Chemicals In Urine

What products are you using on your babies? Would you rather be safe than sorry? I am so glad I started using Shaklee products before my babies were born and have now used them for 30 years! I am comforted in knowing that at least I had control over my baby's shampoos and baby washes as well as the products that I cleaned our home with, including their sheets and clothes!! Did you know when you use a safe laundry product you don't have to use something different for your babies and children? For baby powder, I used regular corn starch in a washcloth, put a rubber band around it to make a ball, and patted the baby's behind with that! It was harmless and worked like a charm! At least I don't have to worry about stuff like this now or later in their lives: Babies Recently Treated With Lotion, Shampoo, And Powder More Likely To Have Phthalates Chemicals In Urine.

If you want to check out the products you currently use for their safety, or find better products, I recommend the Cosmetic Safety Database. Here are the ShakleebabyTM products they rate on their site and here is a cool ShakleeBabyTM video for your information and entertainment.

And, I know Mom and Dad also want to keep the chemicals out of their lives and use SAFE products so their children don't have to take care of them in a nursing home later because of an overload of chemicals in their lifetime! Not when we have a choice! I urge you to do what is right for your health and start changing to safe products today, if you haven't already.

I made it in our Company's weekly newsletter! :)

Profile

Marcia Flach

Marcia
Director, TX

“This year, thanks to Cinch®, I will be celebrating being 25 pounds and 27.5 inches healthier!† I hope to inspire others to know that they too can get their extra weight off and feel good! Because of the ease and convenience of Cinch I was even able stay healthy and fit through a nine month period of not being able to walk, run or use the elliptical machine, after injuring my Achilles in January 2009. I have begun walking again but Cinch helped me keep FIT during that time!”

† Results not typical. In a 12-week pilot study, participants lost an average of 1.5 lbs per week.

Dr. Oz's 2010 Critical Vitamin Checklist

Ok, Dr. Oz, I am one of your biggest fans, have not missed a show yet and love 99% of what you say, but sometimes I've got to come here and rant! I think telling people to take a cheap Multi-vitamin that might cost $2.40/month and holding up a RED Multi-vitamin is quite irresponsible.

After all, a Multi-vitamin should contain everything we need in our day and come from all those fruits and veggies you had on the table, right? Only one or two of those were red, so where does that FAKE Multi get it's color from? Certainly not fruits and vegetables. Probably chemicals (artificial colors), which on most shows, including today, you tell us to use natural products, right? Why not recommend natural when it comes to vitamins that we are ingesting into our bodies for our very basic health and survival?! What do you take? I can almost guarantee that you do not take what you had on the show yesterday!

Then of course there is the whole huge issue of no one having proof that what they say is in their vitamins are actually in them and even if it does say "natural" it only has to be 15% natural to be labeled as such.

I think the common person does not even know that NO supplements sold OTC, vitamins, herbs, etc. are regulated by the FDA, or anyone for that matter!! Why don't you tell your audience the truth? Why don't you tell them they are the guinea pigs if they go and purchase something that's never been tested on humans before they purchase it? The only time the FDA steps in is when people start to get sick or die (remember the Cambridge Diet or more recently ephedra ban?).

There is only ONE company in the U.S. that has PROOF that their vitamins work and that the people who took them for over a 20 year period had "markedly better health" and that is the #1 Natural Nutrition Company in the U.S., the oldest and largest, The Shaklee Corporation. This video will show you the Shaklee Difference and here is that Landmark Study PROVING the products work. They are the ONLY company with over 100 clinical scientific papers on their products, with 90 of them published.

So why, Dr. Oz, since everyone listens to you, why don't you tell them the REAL truth about vitamins? I believe it is your responsibility. And besides, if you take Shaklee's Multi-vitamin/Multi-mineral, you get all the Vit. D you need in it and you don't have to take a separate Vit. D!!!!!! :)

Thanks for listening and I hope you do something to let the people know the very poor quality of most vitamins on the market today, especially when there is a better choice. As a matter of fact, that Landmark Study also proved that in some cases, it was better to take nothing than to take a brand that was not Shaklee!!!!!! For .38 a day you can actually get a Multi that is proven to work. Omegaguard (fish oil) is .86 per day.

Would you rather spend $1.24 per day on something that is guaranteed and proven to work, or .50 per day on something that has not been overseen by anyone, probably not tested, not proven to work, probably full of artificial ingredients, might help you, but might harm you as well? I think America deserves to know there is a choice and a difference and if given the right information, we are smart enough to choose the right thing.

Thank you!
