Football, exercise prompt most heat-related hospital visits - Reuters

Just this morning I have read 2 posts, one about a football coach and one a young child being taken to the hospital from practicing in this excessive heat. Personally I think that no one should be practicing out in this heat, but especially not children! It is a GAME, it is not supposed to be life or death. If these were my children they would not be showing up.

We are in the middle of what is now the 2nd longest stretch of days at or above 100 degrees, on our 31st day with no end in site and record highs this week of 106 - 110. This is football people - it will wait. I know how people feel about their football but these are also children who don't have a choice. Let's make better choices for them as parents and coaches.

And in the end, if you insist on going out there, and making your children go out in this heat for practice football or anything else, may I recommend at least re-hydrating with a version of what the astronauts use upon re-entering the earths atmosphere that keeps them from passing out? It is called Performance by Shaklee. Look it up, do your research and you will find it will keep you re-hydrated better than water and does not contain the sugar and/or chemicals of other hydration beverages. Consider purchasing the Value Pack for the entire team. It comes in both Orange Flavor and Lemon-Lime. Dehydration is serious business - maybe you can prevent it.
