Even Dr. Oz doesn't recommend Red Yeast Rice!
Dr. Oz doesn't recommend statins (such as Lipitor & Crestor), or Red Yeast Rice, for the first line of defense for high cholesterol! I was surprised to hear what he said about Red Yeast Rice; that it acts just like a statin and therefore has the same side effects, and, that just because it is natural does not mean it is safe, and, that there have not been enough studies done on it! You must tell your doctor if you are going to take this natural product so they can monitor your liver!! Wow. Too bad he doesn't seem to know about Shaklee's Cholesterol Reduction Complex! Of course, I agree fully with him ~ to change your diet & lifestyle, and exercise, to see if you can get your cholesterol down, but it's also nice to know that the Shaklee product is both safe and effective! It delivers 2,000 mg of plant sterols and stanols daily, which is the amount recommended by the NIH, and your liver doesn't have to be monitored while taking it!

Please honor me with a response.... since I have been using Shaklee's cholesterol reduction complex, every ligament throughout my body has become increasingly painful. It has been approximately 2 months of steady use. which ingredient is causing this?
ReplyDeleteI am sorry, I do not know. Please send your question to medicalaffairs@shaklee.com. They can help you. Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog! :)Happy New Year!
ReplyDelete"I have put many patients on red rice yeast products with excellent results and have seen only two patients who could not tolerate them because of side effects. Note that anyone taking statins, either as red rice yeast or prescription drugs, should be on daily supplements of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). Statins inhibit the body's production of this coenzyme along with lowering cholesterol. CoQ10 is necessary for optimum function of muscles, including heart muscle."

Thanks for your comment Kimberly! That's a good point about the CoQ10. Here is Shaklee's CoQHeart with Q-Trol: http://health-connection.myshaklee.com/us/en/shop/healthysolutions/smartheart/product-_p_coqheart-with-q-trolp
ReplyDeleteDo you work for Dr. Weil, or did you just take this from his writings?
Thanks again!
