Why Shaklee is not on EWG's Skin Deep website

"Regarding the EWG, Shaklee has a close working relationship with this organization.

We applaud and very much appreciate their goals and efforts. One of the current issues, however, is that the Skin Deep database search, which the EWG references in determining the harm or toxicity of ingredients, sometimes renders inconsistent results. For example, ascorbic acid –nature’s form of vitamin C – is linked with cancer, reproductive disorders, neurotoxicity, and endocrine disruption! We also have issues with the “data gap” factor in assigning harm to ingredients.

Hazard attribution to vitamin C, for instance, is based on a 70% “data gap,” which, according to the explanation on the EWG Web site, is “a measure of how much is unknown about an ingredient.” Shaklee and many other scientific experts agree that declaring an ingredient to be hazardous based on this sparse level of information and scientific evidence does not necessarily make it so. Shaklee scientists are working with the EWG to resolve these types ofresults, particularly in regard to our products, and would be reluctant to refer customers or prospects to the Web site until these issues have been resolved."

Hopefully this can be resolved and I can once again recommend the EWG website for safe products!! In the meantime, I will keep using my Shaklee - always SAFE, always GREEN, always WORKS!
